Look Younger and Feel Better because Skincare

Considering that skin is that largest organ of our body, we usually don’t give our skin the same daily care as we would to our teeth. Our skin acts as a protective shield against the environment, preventing dust, dirt and other harmful micro-organisms from entering our body. Many think that skin care is only for women, but men could also benefit from a daily skin care routine.

Skin if not taken care of properly, becomes dry and flaky and can cause severe irritation which can advance to becoming a skin infection. A proper skin care regime if followed daily can prevent such damage to our skin.

We sometimes overdo skin cleaning by taking long showers and bubble baths; using soap as an aid to clean our skin. What we do not realize is that constant use of soap can destroy our skin’s natural oil covering (called ‘sebum’), making it dry and cracked.

It is important to know your skin type before beginning a skin care regime. A skin type could range from oily to normal to a combination of sensitive and oily skin. Knowing your skin type would help you decide which skin care product would suit you best.

Daily skin care doesn’t need to be a long drawn experiment. It could take only about 15 to 20 minutes of your time. There are three simple steps to achieving clean, healthy and glowing skin.

Step 1: Cleansing

Start your skin care with cleansing your skin. Use a cleanser that suits your skin type instead of soap, since they contain oil, surfactants and water that do not dehydrate the skin. Cleansers help to remove oil, dirt and makeup from your skin effectively.

Step 2: Scrubbing

Scrubs need to be used to remove the top layer of dead skin cells on your body. A gentle scrub with tiny grains is the best for all skin types, as big grains in cheap scrubs can tear your skin and can cause more harm than good.
TIP : As a home made scrub, you can also use a half-teaspoon of sugar for scrubbing your face. Keep rubbing it until it melts away and then wipe your face with a warm & wet cloth.

Step 3: Moisturizing

Moisturizing your skin is the last most important step to complete your skin care routine. Your skin is naturally equipped to tell you how much moisturizer it requires. Tightness of skin after scrubbing can be relieved by using moisturizer. Though over using moisturizer may clog the pores in your skin.

TIP: Olive oil can also be used to give your face required moisture, but it can only be used in winters.

Use Sun-Screen
It is important to use sun screen lotion as the skins’ armor against the harmful UV Rays of the Sun. Applying sun-screen lotion daily helps to maintain the natural quality of your skin while at the same time avoids tanning.
