Look good feel with cosmetics

Cosmetics have been used since the early ages, the first evidence of which was recorded in Egypt around 3500 BC. Cosmetics or ‘Make up’ or ‘War paint’ was said to be banned in society in the early ages. It was said to be a product used only by performers and wasn’t supposed to be used by the genteel kind. Infact, cosmetics have played a huge role in Indian dance forms like Kathakali. The make up used on the performer’s face is the ‘thickest form of make up’ applied.

Eyeliners, lip gloss, lipsticks, eye shadow, blush-on, nail paint and perfume are just some of the different kinds of cosmetics available in the market.

These cosmetics are used to enhance one’s beauty or even altering of appearance. These cosmetics are temporary or semi-permanent in nature and can be removed by using appropriate cosmetic removing lotions. There are also a wide variety of permanent cosmetics and cosmetic treatments available, which can be used to create a permanent make up effect. For example, one may want permanent eyeliner. Here colour is tattooed onto the eye lid to give the desired effect.

There has been growing awareness lately regarding cosmetics being environment friendly, organic and containing essential minerals. Chemicals have been added in cosmetics to make them long lasting and more durable. For example, the lead-content in make-up makes cosmetics last longer and hence cosmetic companies often use this toxic material in lipsticks and eye liners. Though, it may be of lower maintenance as in comparison to those cosmetics that do not contain lead, the chemical content in the product may harm the user in the long run.

Companies that produce skin care products usually also have a cosmetics range. The Body Shop for example, deals both in skin care and cosmetics like lip balms and perfumes.

Cosmetics can be used depending on the occasion. It can be used for formal or casual occasions and even parties to achieve either a subtle or glamorous effect to enhance ones features. After all, it is the ‘Look Good, Feel Good’ factor that rules the world!
